Why did I receive a virus notification from Juno?

Juno is serious about safeguarding you from harmful computer viruses. In order to provide the best possible online experience Juno automatically scans all messages sent by users for harmful viruses.

If a virus-infected email is sent by a Juno member like yourself, our servers are set up to block the original message and send you a notification.

Do I get notified when Juno protects me from receiving email viruses?

To safeguard you from harmful computer viruses, Juno performs a scan on all messages delivered to your inbox. Juno servers would automatically block email messages that contain a virus. To reduce excessive email in your inbox and provide for a better user experience, you will not receive a virus notification email when a virus-infected message intended for you is blocked.

Why did I receive a virus notification referencing a message I did not send but listing my email address as the sender?

Some viruses send virus-infected emails using random email addresses or email addressed from address books of the computers they infect in the From or Return-Path field. This causes virus notifications to be sent to the forged From or Return-Path addresses.

Although this does not necessarily imply that your computer has been infected with a virus, we recommend that you thoroughly scan your computer for viruses after receiving a virus notification.

How do I retrieve a blocked message?

For the safety of you and all Juno members, all messages that are blocked due to a suspected virus, are permanently deleted from the Juno email servers.

How do I ensure that the messages I send do not contain viruses?

We strongly recommend that you install anti-virus software on your computer and update it regularly according to the manufacturers instructions. This will help you in safeguarding your system from virus infections.
