Does Stealth Mode make my DSL connection more secure?

The Juno DSL modem offers you the option of connecting to the internet in "Stealth Mode," which is enabled by default. This hides your computer from potential hackers by not recognizing their attempts to contact your computer through sending packet requests.

    To turn off Stealth Mode:
  1. Open up a web browser, and go to gateway.juno.com.
  2. Click on the Firewall icon, then select the Advanced Settings link.
  3. Click to remove the check in the box next to Stealth mode to disable the function.

    To turn on Stealth Mode:
  4. Open up a web browser, and go to gateway.juno.com.
  5. Click on the Firewall icon, then select the Advanced Settings link.
  6. Click on the box next to Stealth mode to enable the function.

Please note that some types of Internet traffic will require that your computer respond to any packet requests. You may need to disable Stealth Mode if you have problems downloading files or staying connected to certain Web sites.
