How do I disable the Windows XP firewall?

Your Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) is enabled by default. To disable it, please follow these steps:

To Disable the firewall

  1. From the Start menu, click on Control Panel.
  2. Select Security Center, then double-click the Windows Firewall icon.
  3. Under the General tab, select the Off option.
  4. Click OK to close the dialog box.

To Enable the firewall

  1. From the Start menu, click on Control Panel.
  2. Select Security Center, then double-click the Windows Firewall icon.
  3. Under the General tab, select the On option.
  4. Click OK to close the dialog box.
